Common questions about crypto cards and DeFi yields

All FAQs →
What is a crypto card?

A crypto card is a debit or prepaid card, usually Visa or Mastercard, that spends a balance funded from your crypto and converts it to fiat at the point of sale. Some cards settle from an exchange balance, others from self-custodied funds.

Do crypto cards require KYC?

Most do. Cards issued through regulated exchanges require identity verification before activation. A few offer limited virtual cards with lighter checks and lower spending limits. We tag every card's requirement so you can filter for it.

Which crypto card has the best cashback?

Rewards typically run from about 1% to over 5%, sometimes paid in the issuer's own token rather than stablecoins, and often tiered by how much you stake. The effective rate after fees and staking requirements is what actually matters.

Are crypto debit cards safe to use?

The payment rails are standard Visa and Mastercard, so fraud handling and purchase protection work as normal. The real difference is the funding model: custodial cards expose you to the issuer holding your balance, while self-custody cards leave the keys with you.

How does EchoTerminal decide which cards to feature?

Every card is scored with the same fixed methodology: six weighted dimensions covering rewards, fees, usability, availability, eligibility and limits. Each review is written by a named analyst from the issuer's own application and pricing pages. Sponsored placements are always labelled and never presented as editorial recommendations.
